Since the agreement between the AANES and the Syrian transitional government in January 2026, major political, military and social changes have been unfolding. What do these developments mean for women and the structures of the women’s revolution? Together, we discussed the current situation, the role of the YPJ in the integration process, the challenges ahead, and perspectives for the future of Rojava.
In the online event in summer 2026, we were joined directly from Northeast Syria by the YPJ, Kongra Star and NUR Organisation, who shared their perspectives, thoughts and experiences on the current situation.
We were joined by Lana Hussein (Member of the Military Council of the YPJ), Berivan Khaled (Member of the Coordination of Kongra Star) and Evindar Mustafa (Spokesperson of the NUR Organisation). They shared their experiences and perspectives on their daily struggles and efforts for women’s liberation, the changes and challenges following the 29th Agreement, the current political and social situation in Northeast Syria and their perspectives, goals and hopes for the future of the women’s revolution.
Listen to the direct exchange from Northeast Syria and hear from those shaping the struggle on the ground.
